Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Batmanathan Dayanand Reddy from the University of Cape Town , South Africa
Professor Reddy is well-known for his outstanding research in mathematics and mechanics. Based on his strong mathematical background he developed the mathematical theory of inelastic materials and structures. This together with his work on mixed finite elements, where he combined mechanics and mathematics to gained new insights, had a significant impact on the discipline of mechanics and beyond. As newly elected President of the Academy of Science of South Africa he develops research-based solutions to the specific engineering challenges facing transition and development within South Africa. During his stay in Germany, Professor Reddy intends to work on gradient plasticity theories that allow a better description of complex material behavior.
Professor Reddy is hosted by Professor Wriggers at the Institute for Continuum Mechanics at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. |
